I'm influenced by a love of nature, reclaimed materials, interiors and just beautiful textures or objects I find intriguing. My work often draws on my childhood memories of Yorkshire - climbing trees, making dens, rummaging through rusty tins in my Grandad's shed and searching for something wonderful in my Granny's sewing box. I like to bring focus to the texture of the canvas by combining painting and embroidery, and by attaching found objects, sharing my perceptions of value and beauty.
My paintings are about the human condition, how our thoughts, emotions, bodies and relationships shape us. My work is personal but touches on universal emotional themes of fear, courage, hope, love, friendship. They give a voice to my spirit; sometimes fabulous, sometimes bored, sometimes lost.
